German Awards - World War I "Aviation

Air Force (Air Force) - the totality of all the air forces of the country. These include, in addition to aircraft and their crews, ground personnel at airfields, airborne troops, reconnaissance and observer units, air defense units, and maintenance personnel, among others.
In World War I, aviation played a secondary role. Zeppelins were used for observation and bombing. In 1918, Germany had 67 airships, 16 of which survived the war. After the war ended, they were transferred to the Allies. At the beginning of the war, Germany and the Allies each had 200 propeller-driven aircraft. At first they were used as lookouts and to drop bombs by hand. Since 1915, it became possible to shoot machine guns in a propeller circle. Manfred von Richthofen for Germany and Georges Ginemer for France became legendary. With the development of technology, the influence of the Luftwaffe in the war also grew.
