Emperor William II. February 23, 1915 established the insignia for the leaders of the aviation of the Navy, who completed their service in the war on land aircraft. It is awarded only to such air traffic controllers, and not to the crew, therefore it is very rare. The award provisions were based on the sign for commanders of naval aircraft on naval aircraft.
A prerequisite was a successfully passed theoretical and practical exam as an aircraft commander at a naval aviation station on the instructions of a naval aviation detachment. As such, aircraft executives also had to be listed by the Imperial Maritime Department. After being removed from the list, the icon was also subject to return. C.E. Juncker is known as a manufacturer. Some badges have a crescent crown and 800 under the needle hook. Normal size and half size badges were manufactured. Only about 230 awards are known. It is one of the rarest insignia in aviation.
Standing oval sign made of gilded bronze. Other metal products with gilding are also known.
