The jubilee medal for the 1st Shevolezhersky regiment, along with 3 other medals, was awarded on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of its foundation. Anniversary of the 4th oldest Bavarian regiments, donated with the permission of Crown Prince Rupprecht. Among the other regiments were the 10th King Infantry Regiment, the 2nd Kronprinz Infantry Regiment and the 2nd Shevouleger Regiments. Medals were awarded to commemorate the memory of former servicemen.
The regiment was formed on 29 June 1682 under Elector Max Emanuel at Furthe am Walde and Cham. Over a long history, the Horse or Cuirassier Regiment has been renamed several times. In most cases, he bore the surname of the owner or commander in chief. The first holder was cavalry general Karl Marquis von Haraukur and Falkenberg. Since 1683, the regiment began to be in the "regiment on the horse of Count Arco," and later in the cuirassier regiment of the "Count Arco"
renamed (front inscription). The name was briefly the 1st Dragoon Regiment. Among other owners of the regiment, such as emperors Franz I of Austria, Crown Prince Maximilian and Prince Eduard von Sahsen-Altenburg had to be named around only a few. The regiment participated in numerous wars, against the Turks at the beginning, wars for inheritance, coalition wars, campaign against Russia and liberation war. She later fought against Prussia in 1866. 1870/71 vs. France. The last cavalier of the regiment was Tsar Nicholas II. of Russia, whose name (emperor...) she bore.
After the 1st World War, the tradition was adopted by the 2nd squadron of the horse regiment of the 17th Reichswehr.
