On November 8, 1926, a memorial sign was established for 50 years of service. This was preceded by the Badge of Honor Foundation for 25 years. The badge of honor for 25 years was established on April 10, 1926 by a decree of the Angal State Ministry. The awards recognized firefighters of the organized, Anhalta fire brigade, who have been active members for at least 25 years and have distinguished themselves by their dedicated performance of official duties. Organized fire departments included both voluntary and professional fire brigades. Firefighters, already receiving a badge of honour given by Duke Frederick on 21 November 1888, were unable to receive a new badge of honour for 25 years. The Badge of Honor for 50 years was made in gilded bronze of the same size. The memorial sign of the fire department for 50 years was awarded for the length of service of firefighters for at least 50 years. On October 29, 1930, another decree of the Anhalt State Ministry was issued, which allowed the award after 40 years of service in the fire department. You can distinguish 40 or 50 years only by the text in the act of ownership or by the date of donation. The awards were published in the Anhaltische Staats-Anzeiger. The badge of honor was not subject to return. After equalization in National Socialism, the award was discontinued at the end of 1936. In total, the gold medal was awarded 319 times.
