The honorary badge of the fire department was established with the permission of the imperial leadership by the state government of the Free State of Bavaria on July 1, 1920. Credit must go to the zealous and loyal fire services. At the same time, honorary signs were established for 25 and 40 years of active, faithful and zealous service. Honorary badges were determined for members of volunteer fire brigades. Awarding was carried out by the State Ministry of the Interior. Employees of professional and duty fire departments could also be awarded the fire department badge of honor for outstanding services in the fire service.
The badge of honor was made and awarded in 3 different versions. The 1st version, made of blackened cast iron, was awarded from 1921 to 1922. The 2nd version, made of casting from dark bronze, was awarded from 1922 to 1923. Shown here 3. The variant was minted from dark bronze and awarded from 1924 to 1928. Honours for excellent work in the fire service are very rare, especially the first options. In 1928, the cross "For Merit to the Fire Brigade" was established, and the awarding of medals was discontinued.
