German Awards - Fire Department Badge of Honor for 40 years of service in Eisen (Free State of Bavaria)
This badge of honor in the form of an oval medal was established by the Bavarian government on July 1, 1920 as a replacement for the fire badge of honor in the form of a buckle, which ceased to be awarded since 1918. She was awarded for 25 years and for 40 years of faithful and zealous service in a voluntary fire department. For especially outstanding services, this award could also be awarded to employees of the professional or compulsory fire department. From 1920 to 1922, oval medals were made of black cast iron. Since 1922, they began to be made of zinc alloy. Later, for 40 years, the medal was also made of bronze with gilding. A notable manufacturer was Jakob Leser of Munich and Karl Pullath of Schrobenhausen. The latter models differ in helmet pattern and font from early samples made of cast iron or zinc. Circulation is about 53,500 copies for all variants. Early ironwork is the least common.
