This award was instituted on 11 May 1885 by King Albert. As in other countries, in the kingdom of Saxony, firefighters should be rewarded for merits in extinguishing fires and many years of dedicated service. The award was received by firefighters in a voluntary fire department, who continuously carried out faithful and useful service for 25 years. In exceptional cases, employees of the professional fire department or other persons who received merits in extinguishing the fire could also be awarded. The badge of honor was not subject to return. King Frederick Augustus III. Expanded this award with a portable medal awarded after 40 years of faithful service. These honorary badges were borrowed in a modified form in the Free State.
Rectangular gold-plated bronze clasp. The edges are raised and smooth. In the openwork middle part, a silver cover bent. The screed is applied to a plate covered with tape. The back side with a horizontal pin with a mating hook.
