Prince Regent Luitpold established a long service award for army management workers on October 27, 1898. The award is made by means of a certificate of title signed by the director or board of directors. This service award was to become an external sign of gratitude for many years of faithful and zealous activity in the army administration and technical institutes. It was donated in 2 stages during 40 years of service as a silver medal and during 25 years of service in bronze. Spent active wartime was counted as seniority. Permission to award the award must be requested by the relevant employee from the manager. At the same time, workers received a sum of money depending on their qualifications. Workers after 40 years of service received 100 marks, assistants masters - 160, and masters - 200 marks. Since November 18, 1906, service award crosses of the 1st and 2nd were established for masters. The class is assigned. Previously received medals had to be handed over and were subject to mandatory return. Cash injections have also disappeared. Medals were subject to return upon transfer to the upper class and after the death of the awarded. The stamps of the medals were made by A. Bursch, medalist of the Main Munich Mint. Due to the return requirement and general return after 1906, medals are extremely rare. This is especially true of the silver medal for 40 years.
Round, silver medal with a raised, stepped border. On top is a soldered coarser round eye with a ribbon ring.
