The long service award for military officials was established on October 27, 1898 by Prince Regent Luitpold. This award was to be an external sign of appreciation for many years of faithful and zealous activity in the army administration and technical institutes. It was donated in 2 stages during 40 years of service as a silver medal and during 25 years of service in bronze. At the same time, workers received a sum of money depending on their qualifications. Workers after 25 years of service received 50 marks, assistants masters - 80, and masters - 100 marks. When awarded over 40 years, the amounts doubled. Since November 18, 1906, service award crosses of the 1st and 2nd were established for masters. The class is assigned. Cash injections have also disappeared. Medals were subject to return upon transfer to the upper class and after the death of the awarded. The stamps of the medals were made by A. Bursch, medalist of the Main Mint of Munich.
Medals were awarded only sparingly, and because of the return requirement, they are rare.
