The order shown here was awarded from 1851 to 1875 as a one-class knight's cross. Division of Knights into 1st and 2nd. The class appeared in 1876. The first form of the order, with a "bakery hat," was awarded until 1875. The image in the medallion represents the biggest mistake in the order history of Saxony. The portrait did not depict Albrecht the Hospitable, but Johann the Constant, the nephew of the latter of the Ernestine line of the Wettins. This awkward mistake was corrected by a change in the 2nd model medallion. Royal Saxon Order of Albrecht, 1848 after the revolution of 1849 and the Dresden May Uprising on December 31, 1850 by King Frederick Augustus II. in gratitude for the loyal and true patriots of the monarchy. Projects for the order came from G. A. Scharffenberg, who gained an advantage over the projects of I. F. Schroth. The reason for the creation of the fund was the 350th anniversary. Anniversary of the death of the progenitor of the Albertine line, Albrecht, the owner of the Vettin house. The order consisted of the following classes: Grand Cross, Komtur 1st and 2nd. Class, knights and small crosses (since 1858 an honorary cross). The award took place by decree signed by the king. The order was subject to return in case of promotion or death of the awarded. On March 26, 1861, Albrecht's gold and silver medal was added to the order. The foundation of swords occurred in 1866. The knight's cross of the 1st form was also awarded with swords. Several awards took place from 1866 to 1872. The Knight's Cross of the 1st form without swords was awarded a total of 1391 times. Other sources (Nimmergut) indicate 1461 awards. Elongated, hollow cross made of gold with white enameled, gold-edged cross sleeves. Front and rear with a superimposed round medallion. Between the cruciform sleeves at a short distance is a green enameled oak-deciduous wreath with red enameled acorns. On the upper cruciform shoulder is an ornamented agraf with a curly ear and a ribbon ring.
