Hitler Youth HJ

Hitler Youth HYU was founded back in 1926 as a youth organization of the NSDAP.
The goal was the ideological education of youth in the spirit of National Socialism. HJ was initially subordinate to SA. Since 1931, it was under the leadership of Reichsügendführer Baldur von Schirach. In 1932, the membership of HJ was 100,000. After coming to power in 1933, all other youth organizations were forcibly included in the HJ. (Now members of 5 Mill.) HJ was organized rigidly and was segregated by age and gender. HJ proper was made up of boys aged 14 to 18, while Deutsche Jungvolk was made up of boys aged 10 to 14. Girls, like boys, were divided into German girls from 10 to 14 years old and the Union of German Girls (BDM) from 14 to 18 years old. By law, on December 1, 1936, HJ was declared state youth. Since 1939, membership has been compulsory for all young people between the ages of 10 and 18. SJ members were required to participate in the so-called SJ service, typically weekly "house nights" and sports nights; in addition, LJ organized excursions, recreation camps, sports events and various holiday hours.

German Girls' Union - BDM

The German Girls' Union (Bund Deutscher Mäddel) is a youth organization of women's youth in National Socialism. The girls were organised into PMUs between the ages of 13 and 18. Prior to this, the girls were in JM (Jungmädelbund) from 10 to 13 years old. BDM was the female counterpart to HJ (Hitler Youth) for young men. The origins of BDM date back to 1923, when girls in the NSDAP merged into women's unions. In June 1930, they were united under the name Union of German Girls. In 1931, BDM was incorporated into HJ. On June 17, 1933, all other youth organizations were banned or equated with them. In 1936, on December 1, the Hitler Youth Act made membership mandatory. The structures were similar to HJ. The leadership of BDM and JM was subordinate to the imperial referent. It was Trude Mor from 1930 to 1937 and Jutta Rüdiger from 1937 to 1945. The goal of the Union was the physical, home and ideological education of women's youth in the spirit of National Socialist ideology .
