The sign for the shooters of the Hitler Youth was established in 1935 by the Reichsügendführer Baldur von Schirach. It could only be purchased by members of the Hitler Youth and the leaders of the German Jungfolk (DJ) upon reaching the age of 16. All applicants had to have a rifle book in which all preliminary exercises and exercises were to be recorded. Along with the shooting award for shooters, a sniper award was established in 1938, and an award for master shooters in 1941. After checking all the records by the regional leadership, the firing book was sent to the Imperial Youth Leadership, the Physical Training Department, and the Main Department of Shooting Sports. It was this body that decided to award the prize. The badge was to be purchased by the awardee for valuable marks. There are many manufacturers. I am aware of: M 1/14 Matthias Oechsler & Sohn Ansbach, M 1/23 Wilhelm Borgas Eutlingen, M 1/25 Rudolf Reiling Pforzheim, M 1/63 Steinhauer & Luck Lüdenscheid, M 1/77 Foerster & Barth Pforzheim, M 1/120 WilHilHilhelm Deeumer Lümer LÜümer denscheid and M 1/148 Heinrich Ulbricht's widow Wien. Other manufacturers are also possible. There are enameled and varnished badges. Until 1943, the number of awarded was almost 280,000 people. Source: J.
