This insignia and commemorative badge was probably donated in 1919, after the liberation struggle in Munich, by the commander-in-chief of the Württemberg volunteer detachment "Haas" Major General Otto Haas for the aviation detachment. Since May 4, the Volunteer Corps participated in the suppression of the Soviet Republic in Munich.
Since February 1919, the corps was located at the military training ground in Münsingen. First of all, it should be used in the border guard of the East. Major General Otto Haas, whose name was then a volunteer corps, was appointed commander in chief. The corps consisted of a headquarters, 2 regiments, a reconnaissance department, a convoy and an ersatzdepot stationed in Münsingen. The air division stationed in Böblingen became part of Freikorpus. The number in June 1919 was about 3,000 people.
As an identifying mark, members wore an oak badge on the collar mirror from March 1919.
The 1st Regiment under Major (later Lieutenant Colonel) Freiherr Zütter von Lötzen has been stationed in Bavaria since April 1919. The redeployment to the eastern regions did not take place, as the formation of the freikor took too long.
The 1st Regiment, also called the Seitter detachment, fought from April 28 during the liberation of Augsburg, and from May 4 during the suppression of the Soviet Republic in Munich. An aviation detachment of the Haas Freikorps was also involved in it.
The 1st Regiment consisted at that time of 90 officers, 2,442 non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel, 722 horses and 174 vehicles. For the liberation of Augsburg, about 1,500 fighters were awarded a "sheet of memory" in memory of the liberation. The 2nd Regiment was to be formed under the command of Colonel Schaefer. However, it never came to that. Under the leadership of Major Woltmann, only one squad was formed. Under a peace treaty in June 1919, the Volunteer Corps was disbanded, and units were transferred to the 13th Reichswehr Brigade. Officially, the 1st Württemberg Volunteer Regiment existed in Münsingen until May 31, 1919. The Reichswehr 13 Württemberg Brigade was also led by Major General Haas. It consisted of 25 Stuttgart and 26 Ulm rifle regiments. The 1st Regiment under Seutter became the Württemberg Jaeger Battalion, later part of the 26th Reichswehr Rifle Regiment in Ulm.
The badge of honour presented here is very rare. In addition to full embossing, hollow embossed parts are also offered. Whether they were made as necessities or for reasons of weight, they should remain open.
High oval sign made of gilded silver. Back side with perpendicular pin with mating hook.
