The badge "For Probation" of the 5th Army Corps in the Vostok border guard was established by order of the High Command on April 9, 1919. I don't know anything about the rules of the award. The commander of the 5th Army Corps from January 2, 1919 to September 20, 1919 was Karl Georg Wichura, infantry general, deployed in Poznan. Subordinate to the 5th Army Corps of the 8th Army Inspectorate of Berlin.
The main command of the 5th Army Corps in 1919 consisted of the following units of troops: brigades at special disposal 5 consisting of the 1st and 2nd. reserve infantry regiment, reserve artillery regiment 9 and volunteer corps "Dohna." Further, the volunteer Silesian corps, consisting of 2 volunteer brigades, an artillery brigade, a dragoon regiment, a Schill jaeger regiment, a life-cuirassier regiment and a volunteer foot artillery battalion Dikau from the 6th army corps, also the 10th infantry volunteer division, which included: 19th, 20th and 77th volunteer infantry brigades, 10th field artillery brigade, 5th field artillery brigade foot artillery regiment and mounted volunteer regiment "Königsjäger." Other units were the 1st and 10th Lancers, the Görlitz Volunteer Corps and the 1-5th Volkswehr Battalions.
On November 15, 1918, the Army High Command formed the National Security High Command of the East. To protect the border, volunteer associations (freikorps) were formed. After protests by the Polish government, the name was transformed into the Central Border Guard of the East. At the end of 1918, the Polish uprising began in Poznan, in which the 5th Army Corps was also stationed. On January 9, 1919, the German government announced a voluntary call for defense in the border guard in the East. Territories were gradually reconquered. After the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the fighting continued for some time. The name "Border Guard of the East" means all volunteer formations and volunteer corps that were used to protect the borders of the eastern regions of the German Empire.
