German Awards - Badge of Honor 25 years - Infantry Reg. No. 76 (2nd Hanseatic, Hamburg)
This badge of honor was awarded by the Association of Former Soldiers of Infantry Regiment No. 76, also 2. Hanseatic Hamburg. The Badge of Honor was awarded for 25 years in silver and 50 years in gold (gilded). Membership can be assumed to have counted since joining Infantry Regiment No. 76. When the club was founded, I do not know. However, the award was to end with the unification of all veteran and military unions under the National Socialists. Many veterans founded clubs around the turn of the century that maintained the tradition of their former regiment. There were these clubs belonging to such military branches as former hussars, sappers, artillery, cavalry, etc., or directly related to the regiment. For the anniversaries of the regiments, badges and commemorative medals were often donated and spent. Honorary badges had to be paid for by the members themselves. Execution depended on the financial capacity of the members. The badge of honor depicted here is made in silver and was undoubtedly the most expensive option. Other honorary signs are made in non-ferrous metal silver-plated or gilded (50 years).
