German Awards - 2nd Class Badge of Honor for 40 years of the Saxon Union of Military Unions

The Saxon Union of Military Unions established new badges of honor in the form of crosses on June 11, 1920. The decision was made at the Federal Assembly in Zittau. For the time being, the Badge of Honor was awarded in 2 classes. For 50 years as 1. Class gilded cross with green enameled cross-shaped sleeves and like 2. The class has been silver-plated for 40 years with green enameled cross-shaped sleeves. The 3rd class in 25 years was only added later on 13 July 1924 and without enamelled cruciform arms. With the new uniform, the awarding of the 2nd uniform as a loop was discontinued.
The Saxon Military Union was founded in 1873. Since 1892 it was called the Royal Saxon Military Union. At the time, KSMVB consisted of approximately 1,200 clubs with approximately 137,000 members. In 1889, uniform insignia were introduced in S.M.V.B. These included membership badges, functional badges for boards, and then special honorary badges for multi-year membership. The badges of honor, established in 1920, are the last form of the Union of Warriors. The booklet also features the letters S.M.V.B. K. or the Königlich designation no longer appears on crosses. The number of second-class awards over 40 years is about 30,600. The crosses were made by Glazer and his son Dresden. The circulations on the tapes were to be provided and paid for by the carrier itself.

Silver-plated non-ferrous metal cross. The transverse arms are welded and become wider outwards. The corners of the ends are beveled. Front side with a gold-plated federal sign on. Front side of cross sleeves with silver edges and enameled insides. The back panel is smooth, silver plated with manufacturer's stamping. On the upper cruciform shoulder is a round ear with a cross. It has a small ring with a ribbon ring. It is worn on a 5-corner screed with a gilded number - 40 - in a wreath open from above of 2 oak deciduous branches intersecting from below.

Front side:

• On the upper crosspiece is an inlaid silver-plated number - 40 -.
• The club's large central badge is gilded with a silver curved ribbon.
