The honorary cross/sign "Company" was established on July 4, 1922 by company commander Wilhelm Pisarsky. Already in April of this year, he proposed to the city of Beatchen to establish a badge of honor for brave defenders. Due to disagreements with the city leadership, he personally established the award in 2nd grade. 1st class as a pin cross should be awarded only to active fighters. 2nd class on the tape was awarded to active fighters, as well as other accomplices. The project is also attributed to Pisarsky. There are crosses with silver medallions and white enameled medallions in both classes. At the presentation there was a letter with Pisorsky's personal signature. They were uniformly displayed on May 19, 1921, the day of the main battles against Polish insurgents. Production was to be carried out by Meybauer, and the number D.R.G.M. Neither the manufacturer's designation nor the number has yet been proved on the cross. On the other hand, Haarke shows a cross without an enameled medallion with manufacturer Max Reich from Wroclaw. Crosses of both classes with swords through the center are also known. The question of whether there was an expansion of the fund should remain open. The awards were not listed to protect the loaned from prosecution. This makes it difficult to determine the number of awards. Known crosses vary in size and the needle system used. Enameled medallion crosses have a needle system with a hinge hole and a locknut. Crosses with a silver medallion have a safety pin soldered with plates. Source: Ingo G. Harke, Awards of the German Volunteer and Volunteer Forces 1918-1921. and their successor organizations, 2019.
