Infantrian General Wilhelm Reinhard founded a volunteer corps in his name in 1918. On December 24, 1918, Reinhard, by order of Gustav Noske, took command of Berlin. The volunteer corps participated in the suppression of the Spartacus uprising in January 1919 and again took an active part in the March battles of that year. They were led with great cruelty, taking more than 1,000 victims. In June 1919, Freikorps Reinhard became part of the newly created Reichswehr, and Reinhard became the infantry leader of the Berlin Reichswehr Brigade.
On December 31, 1919, he resigned from the Reichswehr and in 1934 became, among other things, the federal leader of the Kaifhauser Union.
