This medal was established on 12 March 1897 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria. This medal was awarded to military, veteran and combat unions if they have existed for 50 years and for the past 10 years have been continuously members of the Union of veterans, soldiers and comrades in arms. This medal was awarded on the flag and the flag of the club. The medal was created by Professor Anton Scharff, Director of the Mint Engraving Academy in Vienna (obverse) and A. Borsch (reverse). The award has always been the Prince Regent's birthday on March 12. Medals were subject to return only if the club was dissolved or left the Bavarian Union of Veterans, Warriors and Comrades in Arms. In this case, the medals must be returned to the Home Office. Dark bronze medals are also known, which are slightly heavier and have differences in embossing. On the back it says only "IN FIDELITY."
