The medal was established by King George V (1851-1866) on June 27, 1866. Distinguished soldiers who courageously fought in battles against the Prussian troops (division "Flasse"). In memory of his troops in the last battle of Langensalz, for all those who bravely, albeit to no avail, fought in this battle. Medals were made in Austria. Stempelschneider was Jauner's medallist from Vienna. Hanoverian soldiers in Prussian service were allowed to wear the medal. The number of awards is about 16,000. Bordered brass medal. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring. When awarding with originals, the name and surname of the awarded person are carved in the margins.
