This commemorative medal was established on July 4, 1913 by King and Kaiser Wilhelm II. for the former Elector Hessian military units. The occasion was the 100th anniversary of the regiments under Prussian command. 4 different medals were presented with the same front and different backs for the respective troops. The medals were struck in Berlin by Otto Ertel. Medals at the anniversary celebration were awarded only to the present servicemen or in their undeserved absence. Medals with the inscription on November 22, 1813-1913 on the reverse were awarded to the following units of the troops: 1st Kurgessen field artillery regiment No. 11 (Kassel location) with 196 awards, 3rd Kurgessen infantry regiment "Von Wittich" No. 83 (locations 1866 Fulda and Hersfeld from 1867 Kassel and Arolsen) with 224 awards, Kurgess Fusilier Regiment Von Gersdorf No. 80 (various locations including Wiesbaden, Hanau, Mainz, Marburg) with 127 medals and the 1st Kurgess Hussar Regiment of King Humbert of Italy No. 13. (locations were Hofgeismar in 1866-1875, Frankfurt am Main until 1902, Mainz until 1905 and Didenhofen since 1905) with 48 awards. Regiments were introduced during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, including in Wörth, where monuments to regiments are nearby. This medal was awarded most often from 4 options. In total, this is 595 awards.
The medal is round in bronze with a narrow, raised border. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
