This medal for non-combatants was subsequently established by Elector Wilhelm II as a war memorial coin 1814-1815 for fighters on March 14, 1821. issued or granted since July 1821. The goal was to reward the valor and loyalty of soldiers and subjects in 1814, 1815 in the struggle for the independence of Germany. This medal was awarded to all fighters and subjects who fought under the domestic flag and crossed the Rhine in 1814 and 1815 and were not guilty of any shameful misconduct or desertion. Violations that fell under it were recorded in December 1821. The seal of the medal was made by the coin engraver Wilhelm Körner the Younger. He worked in Kassel from 1804 to 1833. Military commemorative coins are much less common for non-fighters than for fighters. Bronze medals, where the edge inscription was removed and subsequently blackened, are considered not in the original. Source: Jörg Nemmergut "German Orders and Insignia until 1945" Volume 1, 1999.
