The medals for military merit in the Elector of Hesse-Kassel were established in 1821 by Elector Wilhelm II. donated. At the same time, the medal "For Civil Merit" was established in silver and bronze. Sergeants and soldiers were awarded for many years and faithful service. The medal was awarded in silver and gold (gilded silver). Nothing is known about the rules of the award. Silver gilded medals were intended for non-commissioned officers, and silver medals for military merit - for soldiers. One can only guess about the service life. The manufacturer of the medals was Wilhelm Körner Jr. from Kassel. From 1804 to 1833 he was an engraver in Kassel. The award ended with the founding of the Military Merit Cross in 1832. Award data is unknown. In conditions of a short rental period and a small contingent, these medals are extremely rare. Nummergut displays medals with a rougher ear. Medals with ordinary ears were also to be issued. The remaining unallocated medals were awarded as award medals of the Academy of Fine Arts. For this, the goal was put on the brink.
