The medal was presented at a golden wedding on 20 February 1918 by King Ludwig III. donated. King Ludwig III. and his wife Queen Maria Teresa, nee Archduchess of Austria-Este, awarded this medal on the day of her wedding to all officials and servants of the court state, the Hartshier Life Guards and other persons who had earned in advance at the celebrations. Medals were minted on the main coin in Munich. 2711 medals delivered. This medal should not be confused with the Golden Wedding commemorative coins, which were only awarded in 1921. Front portraits were made by Professor George. The reverse was designed by Alois Bursh.
Oval medal made of military metal (zinc) without a raised edge. There is a parallel eye on top. A small ring with a band ring passes through them.
