German Awards - Gold Honorary Coin of the Order of Ludwig for 50 years of service
This medal was established simultaneously with the honorary cross for court and civil servants on August 25, 1827 by King Ludwig I on his birthday and name day. This award was received by court and civil servants, as well as military officials of the lowest rank, after 50 years of service in honesty and hard work to the highest satisfaction, as they say. The provisions relating to length of service were detailed. Thus, the war years were doubly counted, but the periods in the house of the disabled were not. The honorary cross, on the contrary, was received only by tall persons in the Soviet or officer rank. A book was kept about the award and was stored in the archive of the Civil Order of Merit.
By 1918, the medals were made of gold. From February 1, 1918 they began to be made of gilded silver. The medals were a little thicker in strength, hence the greater weight. Of these gilded medals, only 50 were minted. The first stamp was made by the coin medalist Stiglmayr. These medals were awarded between 1827 and 1847. In 1847, a new reverse stamp was made with larger letters J. The badge of honor was subject to strict return after the death of the borrowed. The document remained with the heirs. In exchange for reimbursement, a medal could be purchased.
