The Hanover Provincial Fire Union established the badge of honour on 16 June 1901. (Other sources call April 30, 1902). Awards are awarded to members of voluntary fire brigades who have conscientiously performed their duty for at least 25 years. This was preceded by a ban on municipalities awarding firefighters to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1899. The 18th Firefighters' Day in 1901 established a badge of honour for the Association of Firefighters of the Province of Hanover for 25 years of membership. This badge of honor was worn along with the awards of the Prussian State Fire Union and a commemorative badge for merits in extinguishing fires of the Kingdom of Prussia. The shape of the badge of honor was to be a "Hildesheim clasp" made of silver. Since 1895, many years of experience of 25 years has been awarded a jewelry diploma (certificate). This diploma was additionally issued to the established new award. There are silver buckles with a 800 punch and silver-plated copper sheet staples.
Hollow embossed oblong clasps made of silver or silver-plated. Applied to a metal plate covered with tape. On a narrower metal plate is a horizontal pin with mating hooks.
