This memorial cross, along with the Cross of Remembrance for 1849, was established by King Albert on August 8, 1890. The cross had to be asked. Saxon participants in the federal execution in Holstein were eligible. In addition to the military, they included officials who participated in the execution. The kingdom participated with 4 battalions of infantry, 2 battalions of hunters, a horse regiment, an artillery brigade and a pioneer detachment. The cross had to be requested upon presentation of military documents at the appropriate district command at the participant's place of residence. When living outside Saxony, the Ministry of War was in charge.
Light bronze cross. Transverse arms with smooth, raised edges and straight ends. The inner sides of the cross sleeves are granular. Front and back embossed with round medallions. On the upper cruciform shoulder is a strong eye with a ribbon ring.
