This badge of honor was established on September 16, 1900 by Duke Ernst I. Awards were presented to fire brigades who distinguished themselves for many years of dedicated and useful service or especially outstanding achievements at the scene of a fire. The award includes a diploma signed by the Duke. Also known is the diploma, which lists 28 people. The sole manufacturer of the badge of honor is the court jeweler Ernst Eberhardt from Altenburg. The Badge of Honour is very rare due to the size of the dukedom and the short rental period.
