The foundation of official honorary badges in Württemberg dates back to 1833. Service awards for non-commissioned officers and soldiers in the form of a buckle were first established by King William I in 1850. Buckles were awarded after ages 9, 12, 18 and 30. After a military convention with Prussia on November 25, 1870, King Charles established new service awards under the current rules for 15 and 9 years of service on March 16, 1874. Non-commissioned officers received this award at the end of their service and without charge. After 15 years, 1st grade after 9 years, 2nd grade. 1st class differs from 2nd class in a gilded frame and letters, as well as a crown. There are iron/silver or iron/silver-plated buckles.
