King Karl of Württemberg, according to the military convention with Prussia of November 25, 1870, established on March 16, 1874 new service awards for the military. Along with the service honorary badge of the 1st class for 25 years of officers and the service honorary badge of the 2nd class for 21 years of service of non-commissioned officers, service awards were also established in the form of a buckle for non-commissioned officers. Years of service were adjusted according to the Prussian model. Shown here is 1. The class was assigned after 15 years of faithful service. The 2nd grade with a silver border was granted after 9 years of service as a non-commissioned officer. Seniority signs, donated back in 1850 by King William I of Württemberg, fell away. The tape alone could not be worn. After leaving active service, the service award was allowed to continue to be worn. Source: Jörg Nemmergut, German Orders and Insignia until 1945, Volume IV, 2001.
