This medal was established on May 8, 1853 by Duke Alexander Karl of Anhalt-Bernburg. The award was given to all officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers and military officials who, between 1 March 1848 and 1 October 1849, were on active duty and remained "steadfast" in front of the ducal household during difficult times. The military were entitled to it, which between March 1, 1848 and October 1, 1849 served for at least 14 days and did not receive honorary punishments. In addition, gendarmes and volunteers in the Prussian army of the country were entitled to the medal. The presentation included a certificate of ownership . The seals of the medal were made by the engraver G. Loos. They were minted at the Berlin Minting Institute. The commemorative coin was to be returned after the death of the person of mandate, and then transferred for safekeeping to the appropriate churches. The exact number of awards is unknown. More than 500 awards are expected. Source: Gerd Scharfenberg, Order and Badge of Honor of the Anhalt States, 1999.
