The medal was instituted by Duke Frederick I on 29 April 1895 for men who had served 25 years in the same service relationship. They were distinguished by loyalty to the owner of the country and love for the fatherland. Military service is not considered an interruption if the employee immediately returns to their service relationship after completing the service. The obverse design was taken from the Anhalt 2 coin of 1876. She was cut by medalist Friedrich Wilhelm Kulrich. The reverse was accepted in 1896 by the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen for its fidelity service medal. The medal was delivered by the court jeweler Heinzelman from Dessau. According to Verbaugärt, Prussian citizens could also accept the badge of honour without prior permission. The presentation included a certificate of ownership. The medal was made of silver throughout the rental period. The publication was held in a gift bag. There was no demand for a return. Scharfenberg lists award numbers by year. A total of 7,300 medals were awarded. Source: Gerd Scharfenberg, Order and Badge of Honor of the Angelic States, 1999.
