This badge of honor was established around 1925 with the alteration of the front and rear parts of the Thuringian Land Fire Union. Medals were awarded for faithful service in the fire department from silver-plated copper alloy, for 25 years of faithful service from bronze and the medal shown here from silver-plated copper alloy for 33 years of service. Assignment conditions are complex. The medal was originally awarded to fire masters after 25 years of service and for excellent service at the scene of a fire. He served in the fire department for at least 10 years. (Published in 1920 in the Thuringian Fire Gazette) In addition, firefighters who began their service before 1920, or as final honors for firefighters who failed to reach this service life until 1936, were honored. The main idea was not implemented in 1936 due to the ban on awards of fire departments. Source: Gert Efler, German Fire Honour Badge 1802-present, 1988
