- Material: gold bronze
- Size: 30mm
- Weight: 17.5g
This badge of honor was established by the State Ministry of the Free State of Oldenburg on December 22, 1928. The purpose of the foundation was to resume and continue rewarding and thus honoring firefighters. The medal was redesigned with the arms of the Free State. The award rules were widely adopted by the 1911 Grand Duke Frederick Augustus Medal for services to the fire department. Accordingly, members of the organized Oldenburg fire brigade were awarded, who long and conscientiously performed their duty or distinguished themselves with especially outstanding merits. Firefighters in a leading position were able to reward after 15 years of faithful service. The rest of the firefighters had to prove 25 years of service. Particularly outstanding achievements in the fire department were no longer tied to a 5-year term. The Free State also included the lands of Lübeck and Birkenfeld near Koblenz. In these areas, the medal was also awarded.
