The honorary badge of the fire department in the newly formed Free State of Saxony-Weimar was established by the government on July 14, 1919. The foundation was created in accordance with the tradition of the fire department memorial sign, which was presented on November 22, 1890 by the Grand Duke Karl Alexander. The new government of the Free State, formed after the abdication on November 9, 1918, also decided to continue honoring. The award provisions were changed by the fact that the award was made after 25 years of faithful and conscientious service in the fire department. The exact period of the award is unknown, as the Free State arose in 1920 in the Free State of Thuringia, and the Union of Land Firefighters awarded it its own honorary badges.
