The May Self-Defense Battalion was formed on May 9, 1921, in the 3rd Polish uprising, in Wigszütz of Upper Silesia. It was recruited from volunteers from the city of Neisse, the counties of Kozel, Neustadt and various local squads. Including defenders from Rogau, Poborschau, who first took over the protection of the Oder. After the formation, the battalion was part of the 2nd section of the Kozel Group South under the command of a retired major. Appointed by Dommeil. The area of operation was the Oder line between Kozel and the Odertal ferry. 2 companies were always at the forefront of Yanukovych's gateway. The battalion consisted of 14 officers and 516 non-commissioned officers and soldiers. As part of a roundabout battle at Kozel, the battalion captured the village of Klodnitz. After that, the battalion was transferred to Reinschdorf and occupied the quarters in Platnau. After the demobilization of the self-defense of Upper Silesia, the battalion continued to exist under the command of May, consisting of about 250 people. The final disbandment took place in November 1921. According to the commander, about 50 people were killed and 120 were injured.
