Awards of Germany - Cross of Honor without swords Honorary Union of German participants in World War II
The Cross of Honor of the war without swords, together with the Cross of Honor of the war with swords, was established by the Union of Honor of the German participants in the World War on March 31, 1925 for its members. The grandmaster office was responsible for the award, which, upon application, made the decision to award. The Grand Master was a retired Prussian major general. Grunert. The club was founded on December 30, 1924 and was based in Munich. The Constituent Notice states: "The Confederation awards its members, after submitting military documents, at their request, through the Office of the Grand Master, the Cross of Honor of the War with swords for front-line soldiers, without those for stage and auxiliary services."
The cross "Honor of War" without swords was awarded to persons who served in military formations, at home or in auxiliary service, who, as it was proved, performed their duty to the Fatherland. The cross can also be awarded to women and individuals who were not conscripted but worked for the Red Cross in the care of the wounded and nurses, or who acquired special merits in loving service in their homeland. These requests were specifically considered and had to be presented to the grandmaster for decision. As with the sword cross, documents were to be presented and at least 2 witnesses named. In addition, the Confederation had the opportunity to award the cross to prominent figures who earned themselves for the World War.
After the application was approved, the applicant was sent a title deed and an identity card. Having received an identity card, a citizen could receive the Cross of Honor at his own expense. As a contract supplier, Leopold Lerch is located in Munich, on Marienplatz 8. Poor members of the Society could receive the Cross from the Union of Honor free of charge to the extent that the need was determined and the financial resources of the Union allowed.
The cross shown here without swords is less common than a cross with swords, and therefore is valued higher.
