This award was established by the Provincial Fire Union of Hanover on 25-26 June 1919 at a board meeting in Goslar. The Badge of Honor was established as a medal in 2 classes. Honorary badges were awarded to fire volunteers and professional firefighters for services to firefighting. Shown here is 1. The class is gilded and equal to the 2nd class in form and design. 1st class was awarded for special merits in the field of fire fighting or for many years of membership in the fire department. Work experience of at least 40 years is assumed here.
The Badge of Honor of the 2nd degree was also awarded for 25 years of service. Due to the poor financial situation of the union, honorary badges had to be received and paid for. Medals have silver stamps of 800 or 900 on the rim or on top next to the ear. Lehmann and Wünnenberg from Hanover are known as the manufacturer of the badge of honor. Gold insignia are significantly less common than 2nd grade.
Round medal made of gilded silver with a narrow, raised border. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
