German Awards - Badge of Honor for members of the voluntary fire department for 40 years 1920 - Free State of Baden

This badge of honor was established on November 3, 1920, together with the badge of honor for 25 years by order of the Baden State Ministry. Volunteer fire brigades were awarded after 40 years of faithful and conscientious service. The award was not refundable and firefighters dismissed from service were allowed to continue to wear both badges of honor. According to the decree of July 10, 1922, a service life of 50 years was marked with a diploma. It was signed by the President and the Minister of the Interior. The State Ministry has been awarded the badge of honor for 40 years. For 25 years he awarded the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 1936, after the unification of Germany by the National Socialists, the award was discontinued.
The ribbon is 6 times red and 5 times yellow alternating striped.

Bronze round medal with slightly raised border. On top is a wide soldered eye through which the tape was pulled.

Front side:

• In the middle is a horizontal line. On it are 3 firefighters with legs spread.
• They form a chain with soldering irons (2 pieces). Flames blaze to his left.
• A left-wing firefighter drops a bucket to put out the flames.
• Bucket 2 is fed from the right fireman to the middle.
• Under horizontal line raised 4-line font (fire department solution):
• - GOD - ZUR - EHR -/- DEM - NEXT -/- ZU -/- WEHR -.

Downside:

• Below in the center is a small Baden coat of arms, the diagonal beam is smooth, dotted below.
• Above it is an enlarged 5-line font: - FOR - FIDELITY -/- FORTY -/- YEAR - SERVICES -
