The Mecklenburg Red Cross Land Union was founded on March 28, 1899. At an unknown time, the association established honorary crosses for many years and faithful service in 3 stages. Crosses were awarded for 10 years, 25 years and 40 years. It can be assumed that the crosses were donated for the 20th anniversary in 1919 or only in 1924 for the 25th anniversary of the founding of the land union. The badge of honor presented here has been enameled in white and gilded for 40 years. The badge of honor for 25 years is silver plated and enameled in white. The cross has been silver-plated without enamel for 10 years. The Land Association also established a separate Merit Cross for special services to and for the Red Cross Association. The organization's predecessors were the Central Union for the Care of Wounded and Sick Warriors, founded as early as 1864. In 1869, it was renamed the Mecklenburg Land Association with that name. Women's club "Marien" is also in tradition. All the badges of honor of the Mecklenburg Red Cross Land Union are very rare. This is especially true of the 40-year-old cross presented here.
