German Awards - Badge of Honor 2. The form of front-line fighters of the World War 1914-1918.
The large insignia of the front-line soldiers of the world war of 1914-1918. is the 2nd form of the badge of honor. Perestroika with a modified eagle, steel helmet and swords occurred probably after the founding of the Weimar Republic. The continued existence or return of the emperor was finally impossible and the imperial eagle was exchanged for a simplified eagle. The little imperial crown above her still shows a connection to the empire.
The 1st form has a large imperial eagle with a collant and a chest shield with a Prussian eagle on the front side. This leads to the assumption that this badge was awarded shortly after the end of World War I and that a close connection with the empire was still desirable or that the monarchy was preserved.
The participant badge was issued by the World War Front Fighters 1914-1918 Association. The club was founded in Bremen before the 1919 and is one of many soldiers' clubs created during and after the 1st World War. In general, the clubs took care of the honorary memory of fighters in the world war, the support of returning members or widows and orphans of former members. Often a relief fund was set up for burial and care of graves and monuments. I don't know anything about the club. The club also awarded a large badge of honor in the form of an oval badge and an enameled membership needle. Membership badges and badges of honour are quite rare and are also forged.
