The depicted cross is the 2nd class of the badge of honor established by the Braunschweig Land Association of the Red Cross in 1926. This award was established in 3rd grade. The 1st grade was gilded and worn as a neck cross, the 2nd grade as a plug-in cross was silver plated, and the 3rd grade was also worn silver plated on a ribbon. This award was awarded to honored and long-standing members of the Union. It is also possible to award incentive awards to persons with special services to society. I don't know anything about the exact rules of awarding. When assigned a higher level, the lower one could be worn further. As a manufacturer of crosses, the heraldic and chequered institute of Gustav Hanneck from Braunschweig is known. Source: Manfred Schemeit, badge of honor of the German Red Cross 1866 - now.
