This medal was donated by Dr. Hans Meinshausen in 1937 as a prize for Berlin school youth competitions at the Meinshausen Flight competition. Hans Meinshausen (1889-1948) since 1926 was a research adviser in Berlin-Charlottenburg. After joining the NSDAP, he was suspended and fired for working in the party. After the National Socialists came to power on March 13, 1933, he was appointed state commissioner for the duties of the city school council. In this capacity, in 1937, qualifying battles of Berlin school youth began in model aircraft and flights. This should increase interest in aviation and its development. Since November 17, 1934, the pilot was an item in a public school. Competitions were held in different disciplines. Awards were given for the construction of airframe models, engine-driven models, flight awards for airframe models and engine-driven models, and models with high operational potential. Other categories are possible, but unknown to me. Prize medals were awarded in 3 stages: 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Medals until 1938 were made of bronze. Later, medals began to be made of silver-plated zinc. The bronze medal reverse has a closed laurel wreath. Zinc medals have only 2 laurel branches at the bottom, up to the middle. The corresponding price and discipline are engraved in the free field. Weight ranges from 24 g (bronze) to 7.4 g (zinc). The holding of the competition probably ended with the outbreak of war.
Round, non-wearable bronze medal with a raised narrow edge.
