The Mecklenburg Red Cross Land Association established this Merit Cross at an unknown time. The Mecklenburg Red Cross Land Union was founded on March 28, 1899. The establishment of the Cross of Honour before the end of the First World War cannot be ruled out. However, independent union funds usually fall into Weimar time. Until this time, merit was assessed by existing awards of the Grand Duchy. The Meritorious Service Cross was probably awarded mainly to individuals who had earned special services in and around the land union. These may include individuals who facilitated the construction, supported or otherwise encouraged the organization through donations. The Land Union also established honorary badges for many years of well-deserved activity. Crosses were awarded for 10 years, 25 years and 40 years. The organization's predecessors were the Central Union for the Care of Wounded and Sick Warriors, founded as early as 1864. In 1869, it was renamed the Mecklenburg Land Association with that name. Women's club "Marien" is also in tradition. All the badges of honor of the Mecklenburg Red Cross Land Union are very rare.
