German Awards - Association "For Merit" and Women's Association "Alice" in the Hessian Red Cross

The Alice Women's Association was founded on September 7, 1869 in Darmstadt by Alice (Princess of Great Britain and Ireland), wife of the future Grand Duke Ludwig IV. Hesse, founded jointly with Louise Buchner. The first missions of the association were in the hospitals of the wars of 1866 (still as a subsidiary association) and 1870/71. The association aimed to make nursing a paid female profession. The free sisterhood "Alice" left the club. In 1873, an auxiliary union in the Grand Duchy of Hesse to care for the sick and soldiers in the field became an independent land union. In 1888, the volunteer sanitary column of the Red Cross became subordinate to the Central Committee of German Red Cross Societies. Since 1889 it has been called the Hessian Land Club of the Red Cross.
The brooch was awarded to honored members (women) of both the Alice Women's Association and the Hessian Land Association of the Red Cross. I don't know more detailed rules. All brooches carry an engraving on the back with the bearer's name and place. Below on the edge of the brooch carry a silver stamp - 900 -.

Downside:

In the
• center rises the Hessian coat of arms with a crown.
