The Military Merit Medal for 1813-1815 was established on July 23, 1814 by the Duke Franz. Some sources also refer to this medal as an 1813 military commemorative coin. The medal was awarded in gold to officers and in silver to non-commissioned officers and soldiers. The medals were awarded as a glorious recognition of courageous deeds and excellent behavior in the "eternally memorable war" against the foreign domination and enslavement of Naples. Very few gold medals were awarded. Silver medals are also very rare. The exact dates of the award are unknown to me. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945, vol. II, 1997.
The medal is oval in shape with a raised silver border. A large eyelet for pulling the tape is soldered parallel to the top.
