The Order of Mary Anna was established on May 15, 1906 by King Frederick Augustus III. donated. The order was established in memory of the late mother of the king, whose name also bears the order. The order was awarded to women and virgins who distinguished themselves in public service, service at court or in a non-profit institution, or distinguished themselves by outstanding achievements in promoting the common good. Only the king had the right to give. The 2nd female order of the kingdom takes a place behind the order of Sidonia and before the medal of Carola. Initially, the order consisted of 2 classes and the Cross of Mary Anna. 1st and 2nd grade - blue enameled crosses made of gilded silver. Middle shields with white enameled, ornamented, wide scripts. 1st grade, with an equal size, has a golden open crown on the upper cruciform shoulder. The cross of Mary Anna is made of silver, slightly smaller, without enamel and ring. The 3rd class shown here was inserted in 1913. It is also a silver cross without an enamelled writing ring, but with blue enamelled cross sleeves. This class was awarded mainly to senior wardens, midwives and teachers. In 1915, the 1st class was also allowed to be worn on the sash. The only manufacturer is the Scharffenberg jewelry house in Dresden. The order is very rare. 1st grade was awarded 10 times, 2nd grade 49 times, and 3rd grade 78 times. The cross of Mary Anna was awarded 205 times.
