A new form of awarding Landwehr 2nd class in medal form was established on July 4, 1913 by King and Emperor William II. donated. This award replaced the previously awarded service award of 1842. Landwehr was awarded to all officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers who transferred from Landwehr 2nd rank to Landsturm. For special merits or merits, the award could already be presented in Landwehr. After the foundation of the 1st class, admission requirements were probably added. Now, a possible condition for rewarding Landwehr for service was also considered a call to active service for at least 3 months or participation in a campaign. Whether 3 months of active service or campaign participation should be provided in addition to prescribed service is debatable. For a transition into a storm, the total service life is 12 years. They consist of 3 years active duty, 4 years reserve/leave, and 5 years landwehr.
