German Awards - 1916 Military Merit Medal
The medal was established on 21 November 1916 by Grand Duke Frederick Augustus. Foragers and nursing assistants in the Grand Duchy were to be honored. The prerequisite for the award was at least 1 year of activity in the interests of the Fatherland and the end of the 15th year of life. On May 9, 1917, the conditions for awarding the prize were changed so that even women and men without distinction of class, who distinguished themselves in the military industry, could receive this medal for military merit. Women wore the medal on the women's loop, men on the ribbon.
