The Military Merit Cross for Women and Virgins was established on September 13, 1917 by Duke Ernst Augustus. The award was classy and given without distinction of rank or rank. Special merits in the war were noted. This included dedicated charity work and war care. The award was non-refundable. Due to the short award period, crosses are very rare.
Cross made of bronze. The raised-edged crosses have slightly inwardly curved ends. There is a wide ring between the cruciform shoulders. Inside and outside with raised edges. In the center - monograms. Above the monograms on the ring sits one ducal crown. On the upper cruciform shoulder there is a relief flat parallel ear. A small ring with a band ring passes through them.
